NAD+ – the forgotten deficiency in aging. Add NAD+ to your therapy
What is NAD+?
NAD+ (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme that is essential to several important biological processes. It is a molecule composed of two nucleotides, adenine and nicotinamide, linked together by a high-energy phosphate bond. NAD+ is involved in various metabolic pathways, including the generation of energy, the regulation of gene expression, and the maintenance of cellular integrity.
NAD+ role in energy generation.
In cellular metabolism, NAD+ acts as an electron carrier, allowing cells to transfer electrons from one molecule to another during the process of oxidative phosphorylation. This process generates ATP, the main source of energy for the cell. Additionally, NAD+ plays a crucial role in the regulation of metabolic pathways by acting as a substrate for enzymes that control the flow of metabolic intermediates.
NAD+ and cellular aging.
NAD+ is also involved in the regulation of gene expression. The levels of NAD+ in cells affect the activity of proteins called sirtuins, which are involved in the regulation of gene expression and the maintenance of cellular integrity. Sirtuins are considered to be “longevity genes,” and they have been linked to an increased lifespan in certain organisms, such as yeast and mice.
NAD+, oxidative stress and DNA repair
In addition to its role in metabolism and gene regulation, NAD+ is also involved in the defense against cellular stress. It has been shown to play a crucial role in the response to oxidative stress and cellular damage, by activating cellular processes that repair DNA and remove damaged proteins.
NAD+ and degenerative diseases of Aging.
As we age, NAD+ levels decrease, and this has been linked to various age-related diseases, including cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disorders, type 2 diabetes and others. Supplementing the body with NAD+ has been shown to increase NAD+ levels and improve cellular function. This has led us to using NAD+ in injectable form which directly increases the levels of this critical molecule.
We strongly recommend adding this rejuvenating anti-aging therapy to your Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement regimen.
